Introducing: Apps of the Week!

May 15, 2012

We are happy to announce Qustodian’s new Channel: Apps of the Week, the new service for all our iPhone users.

The app store these days is absolutely swarming with apps. Hundreds are added each day making it more and more difficult to track down the ones you like or are looking for.

At Qustodian we are completely engrossed in this process (it comes with being part of it..) and we thought it only fair to share our knowledge of this with our users. So from now on we are giving you the chance to opt-in to our new app channel.

We asked our users how often they would like to receive updates about the best apps and the overwhelming majority said once per week.

So, through the channel we will provide you with weekly recommendations on the best apps out there at the moment based on popularity, entertainment, value and of course our opinion. We would also love to hear about any great apps (other than Qustodian) that you’ve found and would like to share with us!

The apps are split into two categories, free apps and paid apps, so whether you feel like spending some dosh or not, there will be something for you.

We will send this message out every Saturday so you can have a good try of your new apps on the weekend!

To get this and loads of other great channels and content, join Qustodian!

Qustodian – The Golden Ticket competition!

May 9, 2012

The Golden Ticket competition is a brand new competition, especially for Qustodians. If you find the Golden Ticket, we will double the value of your Yoad balance! We will actually top up your Yoad with at least £5 and up to a maximum of £15,  so don’t worry if you’ve only earned a couple of pounds so far. You’ll still get a fiver!

The mechanics of the Golden Ticket competition are very simple. Every so often, a Golden Ticket will be hidden amongst the commercial messages that we send out. Qustodians can find the ticket by reading their commercial messages and the reading of a random message by a lucky winner will trigger the appearance of the Golden Ticket.

If you are the recipient of the winning random message but don’t happen to open it, the Golden Ticket will not appear and your Yoad balance will not be increased.

A little introduction to the Golden Ticket competition:

Why?

We love Willy Wonka and his Chocolate Factory and this is our tribute to the great man. With this new competition, you can be in Charlie’s shoes and get a chance at winning the Golden Ticket.

In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie discovers a golden ticket inside one of Willy Wonka’s chocolate bars. With this ticket he is able to take part in a tour of Wonka’s secretive chocolate factory!

What is the Golden Ticket competition?

There will be a Golden Ticket hidden inside someone’s Qustodian inbox somewhere. It could be in any of the message you receive within a one week period so you will have to check them all to see if it is there. If you find it, a special Golden Ticket message will appear in your inbox. If you are the winner, the value of your Yoad will be doubled!

for example:

If you have £1.24 in your Yoad, your balance will increase to £6.24

If you have £6.83 in your Yoad, your balance will increase to £13.66

If you have £16.10 in your Yoad, your balance will increase to £31.10  (£15 is the maximum boost for this competition)

Duration of the draw:

The competition will run for a whole week and the Golden Ticket could be in any of the commercial messages we send to you.

What if someone doesn’t open the winning message to find the ticket?

We will run the Golden Ticket competition regularly and if the Golden Ticket is not found during that week, it will roll-over (like the Euromillions) and in the next competition, there will be two Golden Tickets!  : D

Good luck to everyone who takes part in the competition this month. If you have any friends who don’t know about it, make sure you tell them as they may be missing out on a Qustodian prize!

If you want to take part in more competitions like this, why not join Qustodian?

May 3, 2012

The Qustodian Royal Flush competition has finished and the winner has been drawn!

Many of you managed to get the Jack, Queen combo, but then came a cropper on the King! The answer, of course, was the King of Sweden, Carl Gustaf XVI (not the Sultan of Brunei!).

The names of the Qustodians who got all the questions right were entered a random draw and the winner was:

Stephen from Worcestershire!

Congratulations Stephen! That was a tough competition so you did really well to get all the way through.

Don’t worry if you didn’t manage to win this time because there is another Qustodian competition coming up soon.

Qustodian FAQ’s

April 30, 2012

Qustodian has now been live in the UK for over 7 months and since the launch of the service, we have had a wide range of queries from our members. We wanted to share the 5 most common questions with you.

If you do not find your particular answer here, you can always check the Help tab on your profile, or raise it directly with us by contacting support@qustodian.com.

1. How does Qustodian work?

Qustodian allows you to take control of the advertising you receive. By entering your preferences it can tailor the service to suit your interests. Not only this, but we share the revenue from advertisers with our users, so every time you read a commercial message you get paid a small amount of money straight into your Yoad.

Once you reach £10 you can cash out straight into your bank or Paypal account.

One of the main benefits of Qustodian is the various channels you can join. At the moment there is a Football FanCast channel giving you all the latest news and gossip from the football world, a Gadget Show channel which runs alongside the TV series giving you exclusive content, and an daily offers channel which send you offers based on your preferences and location from companies such as Groupon.

Thought relatively new to the UK, Qustodian already has a successful company in Spain and is looking to expand into many different markets such as Music and Film to offer our users even more great content.

2. How I can grow my network of friends?

In addition to increasing your network of friends by inviting them from your mobile phone, we provide you with a unique referral link which you can use either in emails to your friends or in blogs, forums, or websites. To find your referral link:

-       Log on to your Qustodian account and click on the menu item “Invite”

-       Once you have done this, click on the “publish your link” sub tab and you will see your referral link.

-       Use this link with any form of communication or social media and anyone who registers with Qustodian using that link will be added to your network.

When someone signs up using your referral link, that person becomes part of your affiliate network, benefiting you every time he or she interacts with a message. Experience has shown that friends are most likely to sign up when they know a little bit about Qustodian when they receive the link. So do take a moment to tell your friends about the benefits of Qustodian before sending them a link.

If you want to use your link on a website or blog, and want a banner or image to go with it, check out the gallery of web and mobile banners at the bottom of the  “publish your link” page.

And please remember our philosophy: Protect your data and privacy and that of others. Please do not spam people, because if you do, we will all lose out.

3. Do I get paid commission for messages from Qustodian?

Qustodian can send you a range of different messages. It could be an exclusive offer, a branded advert, a quiz or competition, a video or an interactive message. Whether or not you get paid for reading the message depends on which type it is.

For commercial messages you will typically receive between 2p to 8p/10p depending on the level of engagement involved with the message. This is because we are sharing the revenue received from the advertisers with you.

You will not receive remuneration for things such as competitions, or messages from our Offers Channel. The Offers Channel invariably delivers great offers to you that are targeted to your location and preferences and the competitions are normally a free-to-enter, fun quiz with the chance of winning prizes.

The easiest way to find out if you will be remunerated for reading a message is to look at the Terms & Conditions that are delivered with every message.

4. I cancelled my account but now I would like to give it another go.  Is this possible?

Our computer system will not let you sign up again automatically, for security reasons. However, you can email us at support@qustodian.com with the number of mobile phone you want to re-register and we will sort things out for you.

5. My account has been blocked. Why has this happened and how do I fix it?

For security reasons, after trying to log into your account 5 times without success, the system locks your account. You will then receive a message asking you to contact support@qustodian.com to get the account unlocked.

When we receive this email, we will unlock your account.

If the reason for account blocking is a forgotten password, please visit the Qustodian home page and click “forgot my password” (top right of page) or go directly to http://uk.qustodian.com/forgot . We will then send you an SMS with a new password (free of charge).

You can then log in to your account with that password and change it to something more memorable by clicking on the menu item ‘My Yoad’ and then ‘My Data’.

Introducing a new member of the Qustodian team

April 27, 2012

Full name: Jamie Edward Allen

Do you have a nickname?

In university my mates used to call me J-Bo in an Australian accent. I’m not entirely sure why, but it stuck!

What do they call you in the office?

Just Jamie at the moment but it’s still early days so I’m sure a nickname will emerge soon.

What did you think of us when we first met?

On my interview I was really nervous but fortunately John and Nick were both really nice blokes! Since then it’s been great. Nick is always on hand to help me out and the whole team is linked up by Skype if I need any advice.

Why did you choose to work with us?

After doing a bit of research about the company I knew Qustodian had a great idea behind it and really wanted to get involved. Most of the things they needed doing I had a bit of experience in so I felt confident I could do a good job for them. I’m assuming my enthusiasm showed through, so here I am!

Favorite meal?

Pasta, peas and bacon. I know it’s weird but I used to eat it after football when I was younger and I still love it.

What do you like most about working at Qustodian?

As Qustodian is still in the early stages in the UK it’s great because I can really get stuck in and see the effect of all the work that I’m doing. Also the people I’m working with have loads of experience in the sector so I’m always learning.

What motivates you most of our project?

The fact that I can visibly see the work I’m doing having an impact on the company really motivates me. Also the variety of work I’m doing is great. I’m involved in social media, design and keeping up to date with the mobile marketing sector. I was already interested in all these things so it’s great for me!

Describe yourself in three words:

Ambitious, Interested, Active

Your downfall: horribly competitive

You love: Music/Sport

You hate: cold-calling

What do you think of mobile marketing?

I think it’s a really interesting field to be in. It’s evolving incredibly fast at the moment. As someone who was brought up with Windows 98 it’s amazing to see the stage that we’ve got to now. Seeing as smartphone sales completely outstripped PC sales last year and there have already been predictions of a PC free world within the next 20 years, it certainly looks like it has a prosperous future.

Can you get a Royal Flush in the new Qustodian Competition?!

April 25, 2012

Hello Qustodians!

Well done to everyone who finished the last competition. That was a really tough one so all the people who finished it should be darn proud!

As the Maths and Logic puzzle might have frazzled a few brains we decided to take a  more relaxed approach to the next competition. The aim of this one is to get a Royal Flush (since we’re so kind, we’re giving you the 10 to start off with). So, there is a question about Jacks, Queens, Kings and Aces and you’ll have to get them all right to be in with a chance to win.

The competition will start today at 2:00pm so keep your eyes peeled. And just so you know what’s going on:

Each Question will present you with four pictures and a question relating to them below. Simply select the box corresponding to the picture that you think is the right answer to progress through the quiz. You will have nearly a week to complete the competition, so there is no rush, but should you answer a question wrong you won’t be able to try again!

The prize for this one will be a £20 voucher for HMV so it’s all to play for!

Happy St. George’s Day!

April 23, 2012

Hello Qustodians!

Today is St. George’s day, a day celebrated by all the different countries around the world who’s patron saint is St. George!

You may be surprised to know, given the scale of today’s celebrations, that previously (around the 15th century) St. George’s day was a national holiday that rivalled even Christmas! Known as the dragon slayer, St. George was a talismanic figure and people would hold huge feasts with the St. George’s cross brandished throughout the country.

Nowadays you may see the odd rose clipped to the lapel of some of the more traditional members of society, but that’s about as far as the festivities go.

Qustodian has a large presence in Spain and some of our Spanish counterparts celebrate in a more eccentric way, by exchanging roses and books (men give the women roses and women give the men books). These gifts are also often adorned with the colours of Aragon, like the Catalan flag.

However you celebrate, we hope you have a great St. George’s day!
